Two students were detained Friday after officials say a gun was brought onto the campus of Guyer High School in Denton.
Denton ISD says administrators were alerted after a student reportedly made a comment about a gun. Administrators and a school resource officer responded and found another student with a gun in a backpack.
Police arrested that student without incident and detained the student who made the comment. Officials say there were no known threats against students or staff.
The Denton Police Department says both juveniles were charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon.
Both students also face discipline under the district’s student code of conduct.
