Two men and a teenager are facing charges in Denton where they were caught stealing catalytic converters Wednesday.
A police officer was driving past a motel and saw a guy crawling under a Tundra pick-up and then quickly crawling out and jumping into a getaway car.
Checking the Tundra, the officer immediately noticed its catalytic converter had been cut out.
Police then pulled over the get-away car and found the men and teenager had four catalytic converters in plain view plus a reciprocating saw -- often called a Sawz-All -- which is the preferred tool of cat converter thieves.
In making the arrest, Denton police say catalytic converter thefts "are on the rise throughout DFW and the country -- costing vehicle owners thousands of dollars."
