Two 18-year-olds pleaded guilty to the robberies of eight mail carriers in North Texas between January and April, officials say.
Jerrad Coleman, 18, and Louis Dixon, 18, entered guilty pleas to robbery of property of the United States and conspiracy to rob and unlawfully possess property of the United States, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Leigha Simonton said Tuesday.
"The U.S. Postal Service and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service will never cease placing employee safety as one of our top priorities," Inspector in Charge Kai Pickens, Fort Worth Division of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, said. "Let this serve as a warning to anyone who seeks to harm and traumatize our employees: The U.S. Postal Inspection Service will utilize every resource to find you and bring you to justice."
Officials said Coleman and Dixon robbed letter carriers in hopes of finding a master key used to gather mail deposited in blue collection boxes.
The men robbed letter carriers in Arlington, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Frisco from Jan. 17 through April 17, according to the U.S. attorney's office. Both men face up to 15 years in federal prison.
