Two apartment residents and an Irving police officer are recovering from injuries from Thursday evening's fire at MAA Remington Hills, a complex near Walnut Hill and MacArthur in Las Colinas.

Police say the first 9-1-1 calls came in just past 5:30 p.m. The callers said the fire was on the third floor of one building with people unable to evacuate because of the flames.

Fire Commanders report that the officer and two women were hurt when the women jumped from the third floor and the officer tried to catch them. All three were taken to Parkland Hospital in Dallas for treatment.

Also, a firefighter was treated for heat stress symptoms as the the outdoor temperature was reading about 104 degrees at the time.

Several apartment units were damaged by smoke and fire and by the volume of water used to knock down the flames.
