The U.S. Department of Education has approved six new Workforce Pell Grant programs in Texas, allowing eligible students at Kilgore College and Weatherford College to use federal Pell Grants for short-term career training.
The programs are designed to prepare students for in-demand jobs in fields including health care and advanced manufacturing.
At Weatherford College, students can use the grants for HVAC, Basic Machining and Advanced Machining programs.
The Workforce Pell program was established after President Trump signed the Working Families Tax Cuts Act into law last year, creating eligibility requirements for short-term training programs.
