DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- The man who was arrested for shooting a 2-year-old in an apparent road rage incident has posted an $850,000 bond and is out of jail.
Wednesday afternoon 50-year-old Jason Cain came up with the cash required to make bond and is now out of jail with an ankle monitor.
The shooting happened in the White Rock Hills neighborhood. Jacqueline Garcia, her 2-year-old girl, and the girl's father were in the car delivering DoorDash when they encountered another vehicle, which they narrowly avoided and exchanged frustrated honks.
Garcia said she thought that was the end of it until she heard what sounded like rocks hitting the car and heard her daughter scream. Police said 50-year-old Jason Cain fired into a car, striking the child with one of the shots.
According to a police affidavit, the girl's parents tried to avoid Cain's motorcycle riding in the middle of the street with no lights and they honked at one another. Then the bike driver turned around and opened fire. Cain was arrested a short time later.
Garcia told KRLD's media partner NBC 5 that the bullet went straight into her daughter's chest and only missed her heart due to hitting a rib instead. They were rushed to the hospital for surgery.
Cain faces three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of injury of a child.
