The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has reopened all lanes of Interstate 30 on the south side of downtown Dallas after crews spent the weekend demolishing bridges and pavement as part of ongoing reconstruction work.

The closures, which ran from Friday night through Monday morning, were tied to the I-30 Canyon corridor improvement project, a multi-phase effort to rebuild aging highway infrastructure through the heart of Dallas.

The I-30 Canyon project — carrying an estimated $888 million price tag — aims to modernize the interstate and improve traffic flow between I-35E and the I-45/US-75 interchange.

Work on related cross-streets and bridges such as Cesar Chavez Boulevard, Cadiz Street and Akard Street will continue for years, with some closures expected into the late 2020s as crews replace key structures and realign ramps to improve safety and connectivity.
