Since the start of the Russian invasion nearly two weeks ago, we have grown very familiar with the blue-and-yellow flag of Ukraine.

That flag, which has become an international symbol of courage, is an extremely hot seller in North Texas.

Steve Symonds, owner/CEO of Symonds Flags and Poles in Irving, said he is seeing a very high demand for Ukrainian flags, which are currently outselling even Texas flags at his company.  Symonds told KRLD News his team is working to finish a set of three 40' by 80' Ukraine flags for a local automobile dealer.  He said many of his customers simply feel it is important to show solidarity with Ukrainians as they battle for control of their homeland.

Steve Symonds on why he decided to fly the Ukraine flag alongside the U.S. flag: "They're being attacked by a crazy man, and we need to support them. We need to do all we can," Symonds said, "I thought it was important."

Symonds said before the Russian invasion, he had "one or two" Ukrainian flags in stock. But now, "We're selling probably more Ukraine flags than we are actually Texas flags. Or, for that matter, any other state or country because of what's going on," he said.

When asked if there is any current demand for Russian flags, Symonds simply replied with a laugh, "No."
