For Jared Mosley, it's an exciting time to be the Director of Athletics at the University of North Texas. After several years as second-in-command to previous AD Wren Baker, Mosley took over the department in December.
Now he's leading the school through it's biggest transition yet, the move from Conference USA to the American Athletic Conference.
We want it to feel different and feel special," Mosley says of the transition to the AAC. "I just think that, the visibility you get being on that kind of national stage, is gonna do a tremendous amount just as far as the casual fan who may not know much about North Texas to be introduced to us and to see the product we put on the field."
Football season is just around the corner. And fans are looking forward to seeing a new-look football team under the direction of first year head coach Eric Morris.
"He believes in what we all do and wants to see us continue to elevate and rise to our potential," Mosley said of Morris. "He's put an incredible team around him."
Mosley also recently helped negotiate a new naming rights partnership with DATCU for the school's football stadium.
"We are excited about the direction that North Texas is headed, and they're willing to come alongside us to enhance what we're trying to build here is truly special," Mosley said. And I'm very, very grateful for that... it's more than just a name on a stadium. The one thing I appreciate about their heart is how they can enrich not just our campus and give some value to students and faculty and staff and the things that they will do through this partnership, but also how they can enrich the community and how we can elevate both of our brands."
