Dallas firefighters battled a three-alarm fire early Wednesday at a Pilates studio near Uptown, leaving the building with severe damage.

Crews were dispatched just after 4 a.m. to Pilates Methodology in the 2600 block of Routh Street after a 911 caller reported smoke coming from the second floor. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke pouring from the two-story Victorian-style building and launched an aggressive attack.

As the fire intensified, Dallas Fire-Rescue upgraded the response to two alarms and later three alarms for additional manpower. Flames broke through the roof before crews brought the fire under control and extinguished it shortly before 6 a.m.

Officials said the business appeared to be undergoing renovations, but it is not known whether the work is connected to the fire. No one was inside the building, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
