A Dallas police officer died Thursday after he was found unresponsive at an apartment complex, police say.
Christopher Jackson, 58, collapsed near a parking lot after he returned home to the Residence at the Oaks apartments along Duncanville Road following a shift, Dallas police said.
Police said an apartment employee and Dallas police officers performed CPR while they awaited the arrival of Dallas Fire-Rescue.
Sources told KRLD the officer was taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center, but died a few minutes later. The cause of his death had not been determined Friday.
Jackson was a 31-year veteran of the department and assigned to Southwest Patrol.
