Victim killed in a Grand Prairie house fire has now been identified

A Grand Prairie man who was killed in a house fire Monday night has now been identified.

Firefighters reported finding an advanced fire in a home on Park Ridge Drive about a quarter-mile from South Grand Prairie High School. They were told about a man who lived there and was unable to escape the fire.

Fire crews went into the flames and smoke and found Robert Barnes in a bedroom. He was in critical condition when he was admitted to Parkland Hospital in Dallas. He was pronounced dead about 90 minutes later.

Investigators have not ruled on the cause of the fire.
