A Dallas Fire-Rescue engine plunged from an expressway bridge on Sunday, landing on a railway track below and injuring four firefighters, according to officials.

The incident occurred shortly after 6 a.m. on the I-345 Expressway, reported Dallas Fire-Rescue Capt. Robert Borse. The cause of the accident and whether other vehicles were involved remained unclear on Sunday.

All four firefighters were transported to Baylor University Medical Center, where they were reported to be in stable condition on Sunday morning, Borse stated.

Following the crash, sections of the expressway and the Dallas Area Rapid Transit rail system were closed down.

Photos from the scene depict the engine overturned on the DART tracks, surrounded by firefighters. Meanwhile, above on the rain-slickened pavement, a large highway sign structure collapsed across four lanes of the highway.
