Mourners will gather Wednesday night in Granbury to honor the life of a 5-year-old boy who was struck and killed by a school bus earlier this week.

Exodus Crockett, a prekindergarten student, was hit by a Granbury ISD school bus Monday as it was pulling away from Pecos River Drive, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Authorities said Crockett ran up the driver’s side of the bus and in front of it before being struck. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died.

A candlelight vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hewlett Park in Granbury to remember Crockett. Attendees are encouraged to wear clothing featuring Spider-Man, his favorite character.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at StoneWater Church.

A GoFundMe page has been established to support Crockett’s family, though organizers say the preferred method for donations is a benefit account at First National Bank of Granbury.
