Volunteers from the United States are already in motion getting truckloads of supplies onto planes headed to Jamaica in the aftermath of the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa.

Melissa made landfall this week as a Category Five storm packing winds of 185 miles per hour.

Ethan Forhetz with Convoy of Hope says their organization has been preparing for several days.

“We have partners in the area that we call on with volunteers,” Forhetz said. “They help us get the supplies to the people on the island.”

He says while they do not send an Army of people they will send an Army of supplies.

They are shipping baby care products and clean drinking water as well as hygiene kits.
