The Salvation Army of North Texas is opening several locations for people who need to get out of the approaching cold weather.
Six warming centers are opening on Friday, January 12th - and more could be opened in the next few days as conditions change.
The overnight shelters will be available at the Plano Corps Community Center, the McKinney Corps Community Center, the Lewisville Corps Community Center, the Arlington Corps Community Center, the Garland Corps Community Center and the Carr P. Collins Social Service Center in Dallas.
The Salvation Army of North Texas usually opens its warming centers when the temperature is predicted to be 36 degrees or below for more than two days in a row.
Individual shelters follow the guidelines set out by the cities where they are located.
