Westbound I-30 in east Arlington will not be the place to be this weekend.

All westbound lanes of I-30 will be closed from Six Flags Drive to 360, starting at 8:00 Friday night and lasting through 5:00 Monday morning.

This is part of the massive direct connector project.

"They will be doing some work on the main lanes, including repaving some of the roadway," said Bethany Kurtz, spokeswoman, Fort Worth District of TxDOT.

You'll want to find an alternate route; but if you must use westbound I-30, a detour will be in place.

"The detour route will have drivers exiting the highway," Kurtz said. "They will take the frontage road past the construction area, and then they will be directed back onto the highway."

This weekend was chosen, since there are no events going on in Arlington's Entertainment District.

The overall project will be completed sometime next year.
