Ask the Expert: What should we make of the surgeon general's warning about alcohol?

The beginning of the year may have been six days ago, but for a lot of people, the real start of the new year began on Monday -- the start of the first full week of 2025.

After weeks of indulging in holiday foods and drinks, new diets are going into effect for some and others might be limiting their alcohol intake.

Starting the year off, the U.S. Surgeon General said he wanted to start seeing warning labels on alcoholic beverages to inform people about an increased risk of cancer.

Dr. Bethany Malone with Texas Health Resources joined Ask the Expert on Monday. She shared her thoughts on whether these labels will have an impact and what other alternatives to reducing alcohol intake others have implemented in the new year.
