White Castle is officially coming to Texas for the first time, with plans to open a new restaurant in The Colony’s Grandscape development this summer.
The Ohio-based burger chain, known for its small square “slider” hamburgers, announced the expansion as part of its continued growth outside the Midwest. The new location will be built at Grandscape, the large mixed-use development near State Highway 121 and Destination Drive, marking the company’s long-awaited entry into the Texas market.
White Castle has operated for more than a century and built a loyal following for its sliders, crinkle-cut fries and late-night service model. Until now, Texas fans had to travel out of state to visit one of its restaurants or rely on frozen versions sold in grocery stores. The Colony location is expected to serve the chain’s full menu and dining experience.
Company officials have said the restaurant is expected to create approximately 80 to 100 jobs once open. Hiring details and an exact opening date have not yet been announced, but construction is planned to move forward in time for a summer debut.
The move is significant for North Texas, where national chains often test first-time Texas expansions due to the region’s rapid population growth and strong retail development. Grandscape, one of the largest mixed-use developments in the country, continues to attract major brands and destination restaurants.
No public incentives or special city actions tied to the opening have been announced. The project represents a major milestone for the 100-plus-year-old brand as it enters one of the nation’s largest fast-food markets.
