White Rock Creek is being monitored after more than 1 million gallons of untreated waste made it into the waterway thanks to an equipment failure over the weekend.

Reports say the problem happened at a Plano water station. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality says temporary repairs to the station have been made, however a permanent fix could take a couple of weeks.

Sewage is no longer flowing into the creek and drinking water remains safe, according to officials.
