White Settlement (1080 KRLD) - A family argument on Friday turned deadly with White Settlement Police reporting that the husband involved was fatally shot by his brother-in-law through a door following an altercation.
On Friday, May 21st at approximately 12:32 p.m. Police say they responded to a call about a shooting at the 8100 block of Foxfire.
Upon arrival Police discovered that at 12:15 p.m. a husband and wife had been involved in a domestic disturbance. In order to get away from the husband, the wife went downstairs to neighbor's apartment with their three children.
The husband then followed them downstairs to the apartment where family members of the wife were located and subsequently threatened to shoot down the door as he demanded to see the children. When they denied him entry, he shot the door with a 12 gauge shotgun.
The brother of the wife then stepped in, shooting several rounds of an AR-type rifle back at the husband through the door. The husband was struck several times as well as two vehicles in the parking lot.
Police provided the husband with first-aid before he was transported to John Peter Smith hospital in downtown Fort Worth where he was pronounced dead.
All involved are cooperating with Police, with the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office assisting in gathering evidence at the scene.
The husband will be named by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office once all the next of kin have been notified. However, the other family members involved are not being named at this time. This includes the brother-in-law, who may be named depending on the outcome of the investigation.
