Video: White Settlement Police rush in to evacuate motel guests during fire

Officers from the White Settlement Police Department helped get guests at a motel along I-30 to safety early Monday morning after the motel caught fire.

The flames at the Red Roof Inn on I-30 near Las Vegas Trail were first noticed by White Settlement Police Sergeant John Banner. He was on patrol around 5:20am when he saw smoke nearby and went to investigate. He found that two rooms at the motel were fully engulfed in flames.

He made his way through the smoke and began knocking on doors at the motel, telling people to get out. He found one man who was still asleep and was not aware of the fire.

"The team did an outstanding job ensuring people were able to get to safety in the early morning hours while many were asleep," said White Settlement Police Chief Christopher Cook.

No injuries are being reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
