Hospitals and urgent care facilities across North Texas are seeing an uptick in cases of COVID-19.

Dr. Rick Williams, an ER physician with Medical City Dallas, joined Ask the Expert on Monday and said the number of positive cases has doubled in the last month.

He explained some steps to practice while experiencing COVID-19 symptoms include staying home when feeling unwell, keeping up with COVID-19 vaccinations and booster shots, and practicing recommended precautions such as good hand hygiene.

Health experts explained these steps are crucial in preventing the spread of COVID-19 and protecting the most vulnerable populations.

Patients with underlying medical conditions are at higher risk for severe COVID-19 infection. Serious symptoms that may require a trip to the emergency room include, trouble breathing, persistent pain or pressure in the chest, confusion, pale grey or blue skin and lips.
