The wife of the Balch Springs man accused in the fatal shooting of a Mesquite police officer is now jailed in a case not related to the murder of officer Richard Houston.
Juventina Vasquez-Bences is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon stemming from an apparent domestic dispute that sent Officer Houston to the supermarket parking lot where he was gunned down.
Investigators believe Vasquez-Bences pulled a pistol on the girlfriend of her husband, Jamie Jaramillo.
Investigators accuse Jaramillo of shooting Houston when he pulled up to the scene. Houston died at the hospital Friday.
Jaramillo is also in the hospital with a gunshot wound that is now believed to have been self-inflicted. Vasquez-Bences is being held on $100,000 bail and also has an immigration hold, according to Dallas County jail records.
