The Wolfe City police officer who shot and killed a man while responding to a call about a fight Saturday night has been moved from the Hunt County Jail to Rockwall County.
Shaun Lucas was arrested Monday and charged with murder for killing Jonathan Price.
"It was something that just uplifted me since I know he's locked up for my son's murder," says Marcella Louis, Price's mother. "I got some sleep after that, a little rest, after I heard and saw he's locked up."
Family and friends say Price, 31, was trying to break up a fight when Lucas arrived and shot him Saturday night.
"You kind of waiver back and forth between wanting to get answers and, at the same time, realizing those answers are not going to bring back that smile," says Dale Trompler, who was Price's football coach at Wolfe City High School.
Lucas' lawyer, Robert Rogers, also represented Amber Guyger. In a statement, he said Rogers was responding to a call about a fight in progress and only fired his gun because Price was not affected by his taser and tried to take the taser away from Rogers.

"Officer Lucas responded to a fight in progress call. Several people were gathered at the front of the store where Mr. Price approached Officer Lucas. Mr. Price did not appear to be an uninvolved, innocent party. Officer Lucas tried to detain Mr. Price and he resisted. After Mr. Price refused repeated instructions and physically resisted, Officer Lucas deployed his taser and continued to give Mr. Price instructions. Mr. Price resisted the effects of the taser and attempted to take it away from Officer Lucas. Officer Lucas only discharged his weapon in accordance with Texas law when he was confronted with an aggressive assailant who was attempting to take his taser," Rogers wrote.
Wednesday morning, Lucas was in Rockwall County Jail on $1 million bond.
