Woman dies in early morning house fire in Grand Prairie

A woman is dead after her home caught fire early this morning in Grand Prairie.

Just before 6 a.m. Grand Prairie fire crews were called out to a home in the 2100 block of El Paso Street, near West Jefferson. They found heavy smoke coming from a window when they arrived.

Fire officials report a neighbor told them there could be a resident trapped inside. Crews searched the home and found one adult female victim with severe burns. She was taken to a local hospital where she later died.

The woman's name has not been released. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
