A 26-year-old is facing a murder charge after police say he stole a car and crashed several blocks later, killing a woman who was in the backseat.

Investigators said Darion Thomas, 26, stole a car Sunday on Murdock Road in southeast Dallas. A woman was still inside her car as he drove away.

Police said Thomas crashed the vehicle into a power pole and the woman was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say she was dead in the street when police arrived.

Thomas was arrested and charged with murder. He is being helped on $1 million bond.
