Police in Wylie are investigating a deadly shooting near Dodd Park that left a teenager dead.
Officers were called around 6:08 p.m. after multiple reports of gunfire in the area. Witnesses told police they heard several shots and saw a group of males running from the scene in different directions.
When officers arrived, they found a 17-year-old boy, identified as Ty’Ron Kuria, suffering from gunshot wounds in a nearby field. Wylie Fire Rescue crews began life-saving efforts before transporting him to a regional hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The investigation remains ongoing.
