A Wylie woman is going to prison for decades following her conviction for what is being called as "the sadistic torture of a woman" who was disfigured for life with burns from scalding water.

Court testimony also showed the victim had been deprived of food and was forced to live in a dog crate. Prosecutors say this went on for months. In addition, an elderly woman in the care of Alicia Calderon was also badly neglected.

The Collin County District Attorney's office says the jury returned a guilty verdict for the first-degree felony offense of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Causing Serious Bodily Injury to a Household Member.

During the punishment phase of the trial, prosecutors presented evidence that Calderon spent $78,000 of the elderly woman’s recently received inheritance within three months, and had been cashing her social security checks for several years.

Hearing it all, the jury sentenced Calderon to 75 years. If she serves the whole term, Calderon would be well over 100 years old before she is released.
