With power likely to be out in New Orleans for weeks thanks to Hurricane Ida, Xavier University students are boarding charter buses today, heading for Dallas.

For the time being the Xavier students will be put up in a Dallas hotel where they'll have Internet access to continue their studies virtually.

The arrangements in Dallas are open-ended with administrators promising they'll return the students to campus only when it is safe.

Yesterday, students from Tulane began evacuating to Houston for the same reason.
