That epidemic of loneliness is spreading out further, even in these days of everyone being on social media and talking to their friends online.

A new study finds 40% of adults will go for at least three days without a face-to-face conversation with another human being. Another 30% say they can feel lonely, even when they're at a party.

A quarter say they feel isolated at work. The experts call it being "lonely in a crowd." That hits hardest for people under the age of 25.

The study also found loneliness can have further negative consequences on a person's mental health by impacting levels of confidence, anxiety and good sleep for many people.
