Americans will spend a record $12.2 billion on Halloween this year

Americans love Halloween and a record number of us will be celebrating this year. According to the National Retail Federation, 73 percent of Americans will celebrate Halloween this year, which is up from 69 percent last year.

This year, Americans will spend a record $12.2 billion dollars on Halloween this year, just over $108 dollars each and that includes money for costumes, candy and decorations.


Costume spending will top $4 billion dollars and $3.6 billion will be spent on candy. The most popular costumes this year include Barbie, Ken, Spiderman and Wednesday from the Addams family.

The most popular Halloween candy this year include Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Kit Kats, Skittles M&M's and Snickers.
