The US Department of Health and Human Resources reports that 13.5 percent of young adults aged 18 to 25 had both a substance use disorder and any mental illness in the past year. Additionally, nearly 1 in 3 adults had either a substance use disorder or any mental illness in the past year, with 46 percent of young adults aged 18-25 facing similar challenges.
These statistics emphasize the pressing need for organizations like Nexus Recovery Center. Nexus is a Dallas nonprofit specializing in substance use disorder treatments for women and their children (including pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy).
In line with the ever-present need and Nexus Recovery Center’s dedication to transforming lives, Nexus launched the “Recovery Rising” campaign. This initiative aims to reimagine Nexus’ 11-acre campus with a design focused on a calm, effective, and efficient space for care. The $86 million dollar capital campaign will completely rebuild the Nexus campus in five phases over the next eight years.
KRLD's John Liddle talked with Steffany Taylor, Nexus Recovery Center Peer Recovery Support Specialist about Nexus' mission and services.
