As parents scramble to find formula for their babies, experts say there might be another option: Cow’s milk.

Previously, the American Academy of Pediatrics did not recommend cow’s milk for infants, but now they’re saying it’s better than trying to make your own formula.

The AAP just updated its recommendations for babies six months and older. They say if you’re in a pinch, you can feed them whole cow’s milk for a brief period of time.

Experts stress that this isn’t ideal because infants can’t digest cow’s milk as easily and it also lacks certain nutrients, like iron.
