(Denton, TX) -- A Denton County man is going to prison for decades for a burglary that turned into a rape of a pregnant woman.

David Thames was convicted in a burglary of a habitation case during which prosecutors argued of breaking into the pregnant woman's home "and brutally raping her."

The jury also learned that, just four days later, he broke into a Farmers Branch home and beat a woman "while attempting to sexually assault her." The woman's two-year-old child witnessed the assault.

The Denton County District Attorney's office says DNA evidence tied Thames to both crimes. After hearing the evidence, the jury gave Thames 60 years in prison.
