WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump marked Star Wars Day on May 4 by posting an AI-generated image of himself wielding a red lightsaber, dressed in Jedi-style attire, with bald eagles and American flags in the background.
The image, shared on his Truth Social account, was accompanied by a message comparing Democrats to the Galactic Empire, stating, “You’re not the Rebellion—you’re the Empire”.
What's more, the official White House X account posted the image of Star Wars Trump:

However, the post quickly drew criticism and confusion from Star Wars fans, who pointed out that red lightsabers are traditionally associated with Sith Lords, the villains of the franchise.
Some commenters mocked the image, saying, “Imagine watching Star Wars your whole life and still thinking the guy with the red lightsaber is the good guy”.
Others defended Trump’s post, calling it a “bold statement” against his political opponents.
This is not the first time Trump has shared AI-generated images.
Just days earlier, he posted an altered image of himself dressed as the Pope, sparking further debate about the use of AI in political messaging.
