In a sweeping ICE raid at Glenn Valley Foods in Omaha, over 70 workers - including many undocumented immigrants - were detained last month in what authorities called the largest such enforcement operation in Nebraska during the Trump administration.
The raid left the meat processing plant running at just 30% capacity, injecting fear and economic strain into the South Omaha community.
But this story reaches further than Nebraska. ICE officials revealed that the raid uncovered a staggering identity theft scheme affecting more than 100 U.S. citizens across several states.
One victim: a disabled Texan whose Social Security number had been stolen by one of the detained employees. The theft prevented him from receiving necessary medications and benefits, throwing his health into jeopardy.
“Ice verified that Glenn Valley Foods complied with E‑Verify 100% and is a victim in this as well,” said Nebraska Rep. Don Bacon, underscoring how the broken E‑Verify system ensnared both employer and innocent civilians.
