A Florida lawmaker is proposing that Palm Beach International Airport be renamed in honor of President Donald Trump. The proposal, filed this week in the state legislature, seeks to designate the airport—where Air Force One frequently lands during Trump’s presidency—as “Donald J. Trump International Airport.”
Supporters of the measure say the change would recognize Trump’s time in office and his ties to the region, where his Mar-a-Lago estate serves as his residence. Critics argue the move would politicize a major public facility and likely spark controversy in Palm Beach County, which leans Democratic.
The measure will need approval from the Florida Legislature and Governor Ron DeSantis before becoming law. Palm Beach County officials have not yet commented on the proposal.
