Kohler is moving into digital health monitoring with a new toilet-mounted camera designed to analyze what users leave behind.

The device, called the Dekoda, attaches to the rim of a toilet bowl and uses optical sensors to track hydration, gut health, and detect signs of blood.

The Dekoda retails for about $599 and requires a subscription - $6.99 a month for individuals or $12.99 for families - to access its health data and app-based features.

Kohler says the system uses artificial intelligence to monitor wellness trends over time, giving users feedback through a companion smartphone app.

The Wisconsin-based company, long known for bathroom fixtures, unveiled the Dekoda as part of its growing lineup of smart home and wellness products. Privacy advocates have raised questions about how data from such devices is stored and used, but Kohler says it intends to keep information secure and user-controlled.
