Matthew McConaughey has explained why he decided to not run for Governor of Texas.

He appeared on the Tonight Show Tuesday night, and says running for office isn't in the cards for him right now. He says it's his family that caused him to put the brakes on it.

McConaughey did tell Jimmy Fallon that he'd been thinking about politics for the last 2 years. He says he wants to know what he can do to be more useful to himself, his family, and the most amount of people.

When Fallon asked about if McConaughey would rule out running in the future. He said, "I'm not, til I am".
