Once upon a time, the tagline of popular restaurant franchise Olive Garden was “when you’re here, you’re family.”
Now a viral post on social media is claiming the purveyors of affordable Italian cuisine are leaning more towards “cheap uncle” than “kindly grandmother.”
A video uploaded to TikTok alleges that Olive Garden intentionally attempts to fool its customers by selling boxed wine that’s been poured into bottles.
The footage shows empty bottles of wine atop a counter at an Olive Garden branch with various boxed wines sitting open behind the counter.
A staffer at the branch says that the restaurant uses the boxed wine for Sangria.
In just 24 hours, the video racked up nearly 250,000 views. Olive Garden has not responded publicly to the claim.
