U.S. Senator John Cornyn of Texas was part of a delegation of U.S. lawmakers who visited Ukraine on Saturday to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The group was led by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who met with Zelenskyy in the nation's capital Kyiv and included Maine Senator Susan Collins and Wyoming Senator John Barrasso.

The lawmakers are the latest to show support for Ukraine while the nation fights off a Russian invasion. On Mother's day, first lady Jill Biden met with Ukrainian first lady Olena Zelenska during an unannounced trip.

The week prior, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was part of a delegation to visit the capital and show support.

The U.S. Senate is expected to vote this week on a $40 million humanitarian and military aid package for Ukraine as that nation nears the three-month mark of Russia's invasion.
