
The Senate has passed what they are calling the "most significant child online safety legislation in decades."
Two bills were passed with the goal of forcing social media companies to make their platforms safer for kids. One of the bills was co-sponsored by Texas Senator John Cornyn.
He says it forces companies to stop aggressively targeting kids with dangerous content and blocks more personal information from companies.
But dozens of groups argue the legislation would cause more harm than good, especially those in the LGBTQ community.
