Spirit Airlines was experiencing IT issues on Monday that affected their website and caused some flight cancellations and delays.
"We are currently experiencing IT issues that are impacting flights. Safety is our top priority, and we're working with our partner to restore connectivity. We apologize for the inconvenience," the airline tweeted at 5:26 p.m. ET.
Users were reportedly unable to reach the company website due to the IT issues. Upset passengers responded to Spirit Airlines tweet about the problems causing their flights to be delayed.
"Been sitting in a plane for 2 hours on the tarmac in KC. Just keep telling us we have to wait. Wish they would hand out water or something while we have been sitting here," @laurenspeer42 said.
"How long until things will be up and running? Stranded at the airport on Valentine’s is extremely annoying! How do you not have a back up plan to send flights out?" @_Just_Beachy_ said.
About an hour later, Spirit Airlines gave a positive update, as they are trying to fix their website's functionality.
"We experienced temporary IT issues that created some delays & cancellations. Our airport operations are running, & we are working to restore website functionality," the airline said at 6:19 p.m. ET. "Guests who need assistance can chat with us by scanning the QR code at the airport or SMS directly at 833-417-5700."
Flights are currently running, and the airline says people can DM them on Twitter with any questions.
