City parks can provide an oasis in the concrete jungles of big cities.
A team from the University of Vermont took a look at city parks in the 25 biggest cities in this country to see which ones give the biggest boosts to people that live there.
The researchers say a walk in the park can bring you the same kind of joy that the holidays bring for some people. They looked at more than a million tweets to find which parks brought the most escape.
Texas performed admirably with city parks in Austin finishing second overall in the study, right behind Indianapolis. Parks in Dallas finished 6th, Houston 18th, and Fort Worth 19th.
The researchers say they're surprised that Austin finished so high because the city spends less on parks than other cities on the list.
