They say English is one of the hardest languages to learn, and it doesn’t help that new words are being added year after year.
There are certain words that always give people trouble, and whether it’s a new word or one that has been used for years, they are constantly getting butchered. Now, a new study has determined the most mispronounced words in 2021, and hopefully it helps clean up some mistakes.
Language learning app Babbel recently released their annual study of the most mispronounced words, according to Bro Bible. The study, conducted alongside The British Institute of Verbatim Reporters, found a wide variety of mispronounced words; from new slang terms, to names and cities that give people trouble. Some of those words include; Chipotle, Ethereum and Dalgona.
“As they come into everyday parlance, it’s great to see people at least having a stab at saying them correctly, because having the confidence to speak new words and phrases is one of the most important aspects when learning a language,” said Babbel teacher Esteben Touma. Hopefully now these words won’t be messed up. However, more mispronounced words are sure to pop up next year. Check out the complete list of 2021’s most mispronounced words below.
