As nervousness over President Donald Trump's latest round of tariffs sets in. Texas Congressman Al Green (D-Houston) announced plans to impeach Trump within the next 30 days.
Green made his announcement at a rally in Washington, D.C. Green, saying Trump doesn't deserve to hold the office. He outlined potential threats to seniors, the elderly and disabled from cuts to Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security.
"I want you to know, from my heart, from my heart, I understand that he is a Goliath. He is a Goliath. He has control of the generals in the military. He has control of the Justice Department. He has control of the Republican Party, but my friends, my friends, for every Goliath, there is a David," Green said at D.C.'s "Hands Off!" rally on Saturday.
"I'm coming for you. Mr. President, this David is coming for you."
Green had called for Trump's impeachment during his first term in the Oval Office. And he made waves during Trump's address to Congress earlier this year when he shouted during the speech and was escorted out.
The White House, for its part, says there is no threat to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.
White House assistant press secretary Liz Huston told The Hill in an emailed statement that Trump's "position is clear: he will always protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid for eligible beneficiaries."
Trump was impeached twice during his first term in office, but the Senateacquitted him on all counts. He's the first president to be impeached more than once.
