Texas is the first state to give more than one million COVID-19 vaccines

Governor Greg Abbott says this milestone comes one month to the day after the first doses arrived in the state on December 14th.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says Texas has administered more than one million COVID-19 vaccinations, more doses than any other state in the country.

Voluntary vaccinations continue for front-line health care workers, people in nursing homes and assisted living facilities, and people over 65 with a chronic medical condition.

Governor Greg Abbott says, "Texas is leading the way for our nation once again. This is the biggest vaccination effort we have ever undertaken, and it would not be possible without the dedication and tireless efforts of our healthcare workers. We still have a long road ahead of us, but Texans continue to prove that we are up to this challenge."
