Former President Donald Trump’s campaign is claiming that he was “tortured” while getting his mugshot taken in Fulton County Jail in Georgia last year in its latest fundraising blast.
The Trump campaign has not shied away from using that very mugshot to raise funds for the former president, and in its latest email, it offered potential donors the chance to get it on a coffee mug.
“I want you to remember what they did to me. They tortured me in the Fulton County Jail, and TOOK MY MUGSHOT. So guess what? I put it on a mug for the WHOLE WORLD TO SEE!” the fundraising email said.
Trump, who is facing a slew of charges and criminal indictments, surrendered himself to the Fulton County Jail last August, a stipulation of his criminal indictment in Georgia. The former president is still facing 13 charges from his efforts to overturn the 2020 election, though the case has been delayed.
This isn’t the first time that Trump’s campaign has sent the email, as they also offered up the coffee mugs in May.
Other merchandise to feature Trump’s mugshot includes T-shirts, koozies, bumper stickers, and more.
Trump even used it for his return to the social media X, formerly Twitter, which he was known to use during his presidency but was banned from after Jan. 6, 2021, until Elon Musk purchased it.
However, the claims of torture have left many confused, as Trump only spent about 20 minutes at the Fulton County Jail, where he was booked, photographed, and fingerprinted.
Trump is scheduled to be sentenced in a separate hush money case where he was found guilty of falsifying business documents early next month.
