A University of North Texas graduate has made history, becoming the first Filipino American to win Miss USA. Miss Texas R'Bonney Gabriel will represent the United States at the Miss Universe pageant on January 14, 2023 in New Orleans.
The 28 year-old Harris County resident was also the first Asian American woman to represent Miss Texas.
Gabriel graduated from the University of North Texas in 2018. She runs her own independent clothing label out of Houston, which uses sustainable design methods and a combination of repurposed or natural fabrics, according to its website.
